Service: 2 hours.
The Remembrance Walk is a (once again! I know you're tired of me saying it!) annual event. The school hosts this every year in our football stadium and members of our city come onto the track and walk in remembrance of those who had passed in service for our nation. The school asks clubs to come together and help prep. and/or tear down the event. As a member of Key Club, I was honored to participate. We were allowed to walk, despite working, and had a lot of time to reflect on ourselves and our lives as listened to dramatic and inspirational music that played from speakers above. Similar to many other events, this particular one was very therapeutic and it showed me a great trend: that an essential element of service is reflection, quite like what I'm doing now. It's amazing what people can do together and this was proved by the way we cleaned up the event so rapidly. A concluding speech was given by a fabulous drama student, and obviously superb oratory performer, Natalie Johnston. She provided her own anecdote of remembrance and summarized the nostalgia and other emotions that we had been experiencing in those hours on the track. The Remembrance Walk was a truly amazing experience that I will forever remember.
